2007 Grantees
Each year, at EdVestors Urban Education Investment Showcase, philanthropists
and foundation leaders with a deep interest in education gather to select individual
grantees from among ten impressive urban school improvement initiatives in Boston and Lowell.
Following the Showcase, representatives from a number of private and family foundations convene to
consider a second round of potential grantees through the EdVestors Collaborative Fund. All funded
initiatives involve school-based improvement efforts in one or more schools, led by a nonprofit organization
or the schools themselves. Finalists are selected through the rigorous review of EdVestors’ Education
Review Panel and staff, from an applicant pool of more than 100 proposals from the two cities.
In 2007, participating donors directed over $1 million in grants to these effective school improvement initiatives in Boston and in Lowell.
