"EdVestors helped us think about the impact that our initiative would have on our student population, before we even began the initiative. It's both thinking about the types of data we're going to track over time to ensure we know that we're being successful, as well as ways to leverage support from one organization to another, so that we have layers of support coming into the school to benefit our students."

- Joel Stembridge, Former Headmaster of O'Bryant School of Math & Science

Our Approach

EdVestors believes in order to drive change in urban schools, an investment of financial resources is not enough.

EdVestors pairs grants with staff expertise and offers significant technical assistance to applicants and grantees:

  • Provides assistance to teachers and school leaders to shape emerging strategies into a Concept Paper
  • Gives feedback to invited applicants to strengthen a Full Proposal submission
  • Matches Portfolio Finalists with pro-bono consultants to prepare presentations for the annual Urban Education Investment Showcase, where potential donors hear directly from educators and project leaders
  • Offers consultation with the EdVestors evaluation team to define outcomes and design evaluation plans to track and measure impact for each initiative
  • Convenes grantees to share new ideas and best practices across schools
  • Maintains a strong partnership with District leaders and the Superintendent to ensure alignment as well as leverage of successful initiatives

EdVestors uses a highly inclusive approach to its grantee selection, working with leaders from the nonprofit, philanthropic, and business communities, front-line educators and experts in the field of education to evaluate and select the high-impact initiatives which receive funding through EdVestors.
