Since its founding in 2002, EdVestors has partnered with donors to invest more than $16 million in urban school improvement, with a special focus on Boston's public schools.
EdVestors seeks to catalyze change in urban schools through three grant-making channels: the Urban Education Investment Portfolio, the BPS Arts Expansion Fund at EdVestors, and the School on the Move Prize.
Education Investment Portfolio: EdVestors' Urban Education Investment Portfolio provides an opportunity for schools and nonprofits partnering with schools to receive significant, multi-year funding for school-change initiatives, ranging from curriculum alignment initiatives in math to targeted literacy interventions and direct arts instruction.
Arts Expansion Fund: In Spring 2009, EdVestors launched its first Strategic Initiative, the BPS Arts Expansion Initiative to expand arts education in the Boston Public Schools. As part of the larger initiative, the new BPS Arts Expansion Fund was created by a group of local funders in collaboration with Superintendent Carol Johnson. Schools and partnering nonprofits may apply for funding to expand arts opportunities for Boston's schoolchildren.
School on the Move Prize: First awarded in 2006, the School on the Move Prize is an annual $100,000 prize to one of Boston's most improving schools. The Prize showcases a school that has made significant improvement relative to its peers and creates opportunities for the sharing of the winning school's best practices.
